Kindergarten

I haven't really talked much about Abigail in school, so I will today. One thing about being a parent is the bragging rights we feel entitled to have. First for those of you who do not have school age children or its been awhile, I tell ya school is just a whole different ball game now. I get a calendar in Abbie's folder ever day that will have a color which lets me know how she did in class. I am required to initial it then send it back to her teacher so she knows that I know what the marking was. She has almost had all greens so far.. she has had two yellows. I am very proud of her. She does have a slight talking problem, and for the life of me can't figure out where she would get that from ;) In her school they already have reading groups. Nowadays I guess they call them literacy labs. Abbie got promoted to the highest reading group in her kindergarten last month, prior to that she was in the second to highest. I get her coming home quizzing me to make sure I know what onomatopoeia means to telling me she needs to work on her fluency when she reads. I was under some crazy impression kindergarten was mostly coloring.. man, was I wrong! For some reason what has shocked me the most of what I have heard out of her little mouth is the process of how American Indians use to hunt deer. Overall she is doing great.

In her backpack, she takes to school one of those little sketch type pads that you write with using the pen with it. Well, I started writing her little notes on it in the morning. My notes include things like "you are a great daughter", "have a good day at school",and "have fun at at girl scouts". Then my little tiger lily likes to erase my message and leave one for me. Which I have to say is one of my favorite things to do is read what she wrote to me. It started out with things like "love you mom" and turning into "you are silly momma" and "you are crazy momma".. haha.. kids. I'm sure as she writes it she giggles.

As a parent, we are our children's biggest cheerleaders. Being a parent is the most challenging and most rewarding thing I have ever been involved with in my life. On that note, I'd like to say congrats to Amy and Ricky, and welcome to the journey :) Amy and Melissa, you two will be joining soon. :) Nothing can completely prepare you for parenthood. Just when you think you have it figured out something changes.

I wanna be a cowgirl

Well... not so much, since Abbie thinks being a cowgirl entails living in a barn. My daughter was in her first parade on Saturday. It was the Will Rogers Days Parade... sad but true I'm not sure of the great accomplishments that Will has done. I know a couple of his famous quotes but thats about it. My personal quest for myself is to find out what exactly this man is famous for. Anyways... She was in the parade with her Girl Scouts. The leaders thought it would be cute if the girls dressed in cowgirl type attire. Abbie had a pink hat I purchased about two years ago and I thought it would do nicely. Well, when I found the hat it had a couple of stains on it. I am not a cowgirl nor do I know much about the clothing. I do know that I improperly washed the hat which caused it to lose its shape. Lesson learned. I do not know the proper way of washing one, but using a toothbrush, laundry soap, and water is not it. If this situation ever arises again a different revenue will be determined. If she ever does want to be a cowgirl, I'd have to say she'd be a stylish one.

What does All Hallows Eve and a Diva Girl have in common?

They have Abigail in common thats what!

For Halloween, Abigail braved the lions, tigers, and bears.. oh my! She made her first trip to Hallozooeen. Her mermaid costume got a lot of compliments. As though we thought it wouldn't. It was a good time. The wig did not make it with us.... that was my fault. I truly did forget it at home! Here is a picture of her with a pumpkin, I was instructed to wait for the ghost to come up before I took the picture.

Here is a picture of her very proud of her candy selection... I think she ended up with about 20 pieces, which to my non-sweet eater is a lot! Oh.. and yes, to those who have not been to the zoo, you are able to get more she just didn't want it.

Earlier that day she actually was dressed up as a cat. We use the 24 hours we have for Halloween.

haha.. one picture is her "sleeping" she wanted to see what a sleeping cat looked like. Now looking at the picture one may say what is that thing behind the scared cat. Well that is a home-made canopy. So, now you're thinking home-made does that mean Sarah made that? Yes, yes it does. The picture doesn't do it justice.

On November 3rd, Abigail got invited to her friend Lauren's, birthday party. It was at Diva Girl and it was right up Abbie's alley. It was fun she got dressed up, her hair done, and walked on a runway.

I love the glasses! I do have a little diva. This is one of my favs for sure!
